Oh Lord help me, I am so exited about the next World Youth Day! It was announced that the next one would take place in Madrid, Spain! WOOHOO!!!!! I've always wanted to go to Spain because of the colorful culture and stuff. I have been trying to teach myself Spanish, with varying degrees of success, for about four or five years. As I don't know anyone who can speak fluent Spanish, I was having a really hard time. I kept asking my sisters to learn it with me but they were extremely reluctant and it became too much of a bother to keep asking them. Anyway, since my sisters are planning on coming to the 2011 WYD with me, they have become determined to learn Spanish! I thought I'd never hear the day when they would say "We have to practice!" and nearly thought my ears were deceiving me when it happened! Now, I am content to practice with them as long as they don't decide to just drop it. They would get an earful of Spanglish...
Now that our parish has finally started a deanery youth group, I have people to help fund-raise with me! That was the main problem with this WYD in Sydney Australia. Not nearly enough money to go.

Planned Parethood
Cathy and I were reading the 'Register' yesterday and there was an article about Obama and abortion. I thought "If I could write a letter to Obama, it would probably go something like this:
Dear Mr. Obama,
I am concerned by your views on abortion. I myself am a pro-life advocate because of the astounding evidence of harm to women caused by abortion operations. I also believe that the life of a child begins at conception. After all, it has different DNA than the mother and the heart begins to beat after only 28 days, before the mother has missed her period. I believe that the reason a woman feels she must have an abortion is caused by feeling she has no other choice. I think that the emphasis needs to be placed on abstinence, not getting rid of a problem once you have created it. If life really does begin at conception, what is abortion other than smothering the most vulnerable life because it is easy to dispose of if there is no visible use for it. God does not reveal His plans to everyone when he creates a life in the womb of a young girl. That girl would not be the first to be scared of what might happen because of this life that her body holds. And what is to stop others from making that decision for her if she is not yet aware of this new life? A woman called Alvida King - Pro-life activist and niece of Martin Luther King Jr. - was pregnant and her child was aborted without her consent. Though the African American percentage of US population is not very big, they are half of Planned Parenthood's clientele. The Founder of planned Parenthood - Margaret Sanger - was into Eugenics for goodness sake! That goes against everything America stands for!
After that of course, I had only gone so far as raving about how he is a complete lunatic... haven't quite decided how that part should go yet. Man, I really hope that guy doesn't become president! I will have a fit and then move to Ireland! France? No, Italy! That would be fun!

Retreat To Shrine
I visited a shrine yesterday! It was awesome. The Keynote speaker was funny and really good at getting the crowds attention. This was a Youth retreat though besides the adults there that were chaperoning us. The team that put it on was called the "Disciples" who were also youth. Everything was great. The music, the speakers, the food, everything. The first thing we all did when we got there was go to mass. Since our group came a little late everyone was already there. After that, the boys and girls went to separate talks about chastity and finding vocations. There were two speakers for the women's talk and I think there was only one for the boys. Well the speakers were funny and down to earth type of people. The first girl who talked was about 26 years of age and she is a Pro-Life activist. The second was a really funny woman. I think was about forty or so and both of them were beautiful and single. They were basically saying that waiting for your guy is not about the rule of "not having sex until marriage", but respecting yourself and the boundaries God set for us as his daughters. Not only that but respecting your future spouse that you probably haven't even met yet. I've been to Chasity talks before and I've heard about respecting yourself and stuff but these women brought a unique perspective to the table. After we that, we all reconnected with our groups and had lunch. Then my memory sort of blanked... I can't remember what happened for the next three hours but I know they were good. Then we had a two hour brake and my group headed down to a ravine we'd heard had really cold water (It was really hot out!). My sisters got each other soaked and we went around to the different statues that was built in memory of some different saints. After the break was over, we went back to the big tent that was set up for our use. There was an awesome skit that the Disciples acted out. After the skit was over, we had adoration in the tent for a full two hours on which I and everyone else was on our knees and singing songs. This part of the entire retreat has got to be the part that touched me the most. Someone even started speaking in tongues at one point. I can't say I was very surprised to hear it though. It was all very intense and we sang TONS of songs.
Over all, I'm very glad I went!

New Priests!!!
Wow, what a wonderful month so far! The new priests assigned to our parish are settling in well as far as I can tell. We have an African priest! Fr. Sebastian. I haven't seen him yet but I hear he has quite the accent. I'm worried the little old ladies might be switching masses ever now and again. Fr. Baker is great! He was just telling us this afternoon about how he was in the rectory and he picked up what he thought was the tv clicker and kept pushing buttons and repositioning his aim for the tv. After a while, he noticed a pole going up and down, up and down... "oh look at that!" he says. Then he realized that what he was holding was not a tv clicker...
At least he got the whole church laughing! A rare occurrence even though our former priests had great senses of humor. I am glad.
Well, today is one of my sisters birthday! She is exactly in the middle. And the one closest to me has just recently gone skydiving with two of my brother! CRAZY.... they are safe and whole though.
I was reading a Holy Love message the other day. St. Bernard of Clavaux says Heaven has requested us to make small prayer groups to discuss Holy love messages and pray the rosary of the unborn. Here's the message:

Women Priests?
I was watching Life on the Rock today on EWTN and one woman sent in an e-mail asking them to talk about the Woman Priest problem in the Catholic church. She said that she thought she had a call to be a priest but was unable to do so in the Catholic Church and felt slighted. Well, the Franciscan Brother was hard put to answer her as he did not feel comfortable saying simply that a woman could not be a father and groom to Christs bride: the Church.
I have always felt that if a woman asks this question, she must not properly understand what a Priest is! How can I go up to a woman priest and say "Hello Father, how was your day?" And a woman who would think she is called to be a priest must have a very strong pull to the Eucharist yes? How can she tell it is not a call to be CHRIST'S Bride and not the Church's groom. I have a problem with women who think they can and should do everything men do. This is not the way God made us! I don't think he had fathering in mind when He made women. And I don't think he had mothering in mind when He made men! The reason only men can be priests is because Christ shares His BRIDE with a priest, not a groom. A Nun on the other hand becomes Christ's bride herself! A woman cannot marry Christ's bride. That's just not going to happen. Such a thing would not, I think, be approved of. It goes along with the whole gay marriages which are not sanctioned by the Church as Christ did not approved of them.
Well, I'm off to Church. I will pray for all those discerning their vocations and please pray for me.

Regina Doman's novels
I was talking to my sister just a minute ago and I was reminded of Regina Doman. Not because my sister is like her but because she knows Joe Doman out in Colorado. From what I've heard, they are both wonderful people. I read Regina's books before I thought to look into the author and see if any more books were being written by her. I found that she had a beautiful soul just by her writing and humility. She must be a wonderful mother. I was very sorry to find out about her little son's death.
I think the first thing that made me love her books was how familiar it looked to my life, though much less adventure. When I hear people talk about being a home schooled child or living that kind of lifestyle, I always hear some very familiar problems that they experience or something like that. I love that. Not that they are having the same problems but that I'm not alone.
Then my mother found a wonderful book by her about a baby in the mother's womb and it's guardian angel. The big thing about this was that we found it at Holy Love, Ohio. A place where the Blessed Mother and our Lord are appearing every day to a woman. This place has become a great blessing to my parents and to our family. While many in my family do not believe it's true, I do and it seemed that God was pointing to this author for some reason. Well, I really do wish to read her next book called "Midnight Dancers". The first is titled "The Shadow of the Bear" and the second "Black as Night" and the third "Waking Rose". I hope a great deal that she is doing well and her whole family too. If you have any interest in Catholic YA books for any reason, read these! They are wonderful and good in the truest sense. If you know of anyone who is too young to read these books, have them read the Chronicles of Narnia. Or better yet, read it too them! If you are too old, bring back the child in you and have a go! Would you so much mind being little again? I wouldn't, even though I'm a teen, I still like being read to!
